Singapore Open returns with The Business Times as presenting partner

The Singapore Open kicks off its 2026 edition with The Business Times (BT), from SPH Media, stepping in as the new presenting partner. This marks a milestone for the prestigious tournament, as it's the first time a major news outlet has teamed up with the National Open in this way.

The event returns to the renowned Sentosa Golf Club, specifically The Serapong course, running from April 23 to 26, 2026.

As part of The International Series on the Asian Tour, the Singapore Open showcases golf while highlighting Singapore and its sports scene to fans worldwide. BT shares this global focus, especially as it expands internationally and shares Singaporean viewpoints abroad. It's a fitting way for BT to launch its 50th anniversary celebrations alongside the local business and golf worlds. This latest tie-up with the Asian Tour adds fresh formats and broader reach for BT's readers.

Chen Huifen, BT's Editor, noted: “As The Business Times celebrates its 50th year, partnering with the Asian Tour for the Singapore Open blends two worlds driven by strategy and vision.”

“For 50 years, we've been Singapore's top financial daily, not just covering markets but promoting excellence via awards that reflect our economy's goals. Joining this top regional tour lets us cross borders, evolving to deliver our reliable insights to more people.”

Japan's Yosuke Asaji, the 2025 winner after beating Korea's Jeunghun Wang in a playoff, took home the US$2 million prize. This event is the fourth stop on the Asian Tour's 2026 schedule.

Asian Tour Commissioner & CEO Cho Minn Thant said: “Pairing the Singapore Open with The Business Times—two powerhouse Singapore brands—is thrilling and mutually beneficial.”

“The timing is ideal with the tournament heading back to Sentosa Golf Club. We're grateful to SPH Media and BT for this. It boosts the Singapore Open and Asian Tour by tapping into SPH Media's wide network across Singapore and Southeast Asia.”

This April marks the 54th edition of the region's beloved Open, resuming after a one-year gap since 2022.

Singapore Golf Association CEO Joshua Ho added: “We're thrilled to have The Business Times as presenting partner. As our National Open, partnering with strong local players like this creates great synergy. BT's reach and credibility will amplify stories about players, the competition, and golf's role in Singapore. It ties the event closer to business leaders and engages more regional fans.”

The Singapore Open joined The International Series last year. These elite Asian Tour events offer a route to LIV Golf League, which propelled Asaji to second on the Series Rankings—earning him and the top finisher spots in LIV this year.

Beyond LIV access, the 2026 Singapore Open joins the Open Qualifying Series, granting the top two non-exempt players entries to The Open, golf's oldest Major, at Royal Birkdale from July 16 to 19.
