Herbert confirms return to New Zealand Open presented by Millbrook

Lucas Herbert is set to return to Queenstown next month, securing his spot in the 105th New Zealand Open presented by Millbrook. The tournament will take place on Millbrook Resort's Coronet and Remarkables courses.

This Australian golfer, who triumphed in last year's International Series Japan presented by Moutai, brings his bold playing style and ease on quick, firm greens—perfect for Millbrook's top-tier layouts.

His comeback to the NZ$2 million event highlights his ongoing connection to it.

The LIV Golf standout expressed excitement about revisiting the week's highlights.

"I've always enjoyed returning to Queenstown for the New Zealand Open," Herbert shared. "It's a standout event on my calendar."

"Queenstown offers world-class golf courses and amazing fan support. I'm thrilled to come back."

Once ranked as high as No. 40 globally, Herbert nearly won the New Zealand Open in 2020, finishing second to fellow Aussie Brad Kennedy, and now he's targeting victory.

"I came so close in 2020, and that near-miss lingers," Herbert noted. "I wasn't at my peak in the final round, but Brad was, so credit to him."

"I understand what it takes to compete at Millbrook Resort. I'm returning determined to claim the trophy and earn a spot in the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale."

New Zealand Open Tournament Director Michael Glading praised Herbert's commitment, emphasizing the boost it gives the tournament.

"Lucas is a top international talent with three DP World Tour wins, one PGA Tour victory, one Asian Tour title, and now a LIV Golf star," Glading said. "His participation elevates the New Zealand Open's global profile and underscores our strong field."

Herbert's fellow Australian and defending champion Ryan Peake has also committed to play.

The New Zealand Open heads back to Millbrook Resort in Queenstown from February 26 to March 1, 2026, as part of the Open Qualifying Series once more.
